On September 15, the Chilean Embassy in Beijing celebrated Chile’s National Day, an occasion to strengthen ties between the two countries, promote Chilean culture, and explore new opportunities for cooperation and trade in the Chinese market. The celebration brought together more than 400 attendees, including authorities, diplomatic representatives, public agencies, trade associations, and key players from the private sector. The Chilean meat sector was prominently represented by ChileCarne and ChilePork, its joint brand with ProChile. With a promotional stand and food tastings, the quality, diversity, and high added value of Chile’s exports were showcased, positioning Chile as a reliable and competitive partner in the Asian market.
This year’s celebration was particularly noteworthy, as it coincided with two milestones in bilateral relations: 55 years of diplomatic ties between Chile and China and 20 years since the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries came into force. This historical context turned the anniversary into a strategic platform for deepening diplomatic ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, innovation, science, education, and tourism.
The celebration was also an opportunity to introduce the Chinese public to Chilean culture—its traditions, cuisine, music, and folklore—and to bring together the Chilean community living in China around their identity and ties to their homeland. It also casts Chile as a modern, innovative, stable, and open nation with geographical, political, and economic advantages that consolidate its position as a strategic partner in Latin America.
Through its participation, the Chilean meat sector reaffirms its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade and investment, and positioning Chile and its products in the international market.
