The Chilean Society of Animal Production (SOCHIPA) commemorates five decades of dedication to advancing animal husbandry in Chile with its 50th Annual Meeting, to be held November 12-14, 2025, in Santa Cruz, O’Higgins Region.
Since the founding of the scientific society in 1975, SOCHIPA has played a fundamental role in connecting science, academia, and the livestock industry. Today, it has over a hundred members, including researchers, teachers, industry professionals, and students. It has established itself as a technical leader in analysis and strategic decision-making at the national level.
On this special anniversary, ChileCarne will be sponsoring the Conference, thus reaffirming its commitment to fostering closer ties between scientific research and animal husbandry. The trade association notes that forums like this one are essential for promoting innovation, biosecurity, animal welfare, and sustainability —strategic pillars that enable Chile to be a high-standard, competitive, and reliable player in international animal protein markets.
This year’s conference, entitled “Science and Expertise: Co-Creating Animal Production for the Future,” will be organized by O’Higgins University through its Institute and School of Agri-Food, Animal, and Environmental Sciences (ICA3 and ECA3). The conference will address the sector’s core challenges, such as sustainability, food safety, animal welfare, and technological innovation.
The agenda includes keynote speeches by leading national and international experts, scientific presentations in oral and poster format, competitions such as “Your thesis in 3 minutes” and the 2025 SOCHIPA Photography Contest. There will also be networking opportunities that will promote sharing knowledge and experiences across academia, businesses, and producers. The event will take place at the Hotel Santa Cruz, located at Plaza de Armas #286, Santa Cruz, O’Higgins Region.
